Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? Physical exercise is more important to old people than to young people.
It is universally acknowledged that physical exercise is conducive to physical health in boosting metabolism, maintaining weight and releasing pressure. However, there is a debate on whether it is more important for young people or old people to do physical activities. In my point of view, I think it is more important to do physical exercises for young people than old people. My viewpoint is based on the following reasons and examples.
First of all, young people shoulder more significant social responsibilities, which demand a sound physique as foundation. Carrying the duty of raising children, taking care of parents and paying taxes to support the operation of the whole society, young people are expected to make more contributions. Thus a strong physical condition is more crucial for them. At the critical stage of building career success, they are commonly undertaking overwhelming workload, resulting in excessive fatigue and pressure. After going some sports, a person’s cardiovascular system is enhanced during the exercises, and the blood circulation would become more efficient. These intensify their resistance against fatigue. Moreover, physical exercises allow young people to shift their concentration from work to breathing or muscle building. The mental relaxation is particularly essential for the young.
Besides, physical exercise conduces to a good body shape, which can add to personal attractiveness. A good figure represents a healthy, reliable and confident personal image, which is essential for young people not only in their career development, but also in seeking spouses. Many of my friends say that they are more easily to have a good first impression for those with nice figure, which indicates their self-discipline, optimistic attitudes and healthy lifestyle. Everyone can be attracted by such personality, and physical exercise can contribute to it.
Admittedly, I am not denying that old people also need physical exercises to resist invasion of various diseases. However, many elderly do not have a body condition strong enough to stand up to the physical exercise or can easily get injured during intensive exercises, in which way excessive workout might yield a counterproductive result. For old people, body conditioning through appropriate diet and injury prevention are more important than physical exercise.
To sum up, doing physical exercise is more important for young people than old people, It is because physical activities not only contribute to good physical condition for them to work hard to fulfill their social responsibilities, but also establish personal attractiveness crucial for career development and interpersonal interaction.
