摘要:2016年11月5日独立写作的题目是:选专业应该基于专业的就业前景还是兴趣,这是一道比较类写作题目,比较难写,下面我们来看一下下面这篇高分范文是怎么论述的吧。
## 真题题目
University students are often encouraged to study fields in which significant job growth (a large increase in job opportunities) is expected; these fields currently include science, technology, engineering, and math. Do you believe students should consider studying fields related to these subjects even if they are more interested in other subjects? Why or why not?
## 示范答案
In higher education, students are always encouraged to choose subjects related to science, technology, engineering and mathematics. One major reason for the argument is that science degrees are expected to bring more job opportunities, occupational choices and possibly more financial reward. However, I personally object to the idea that students should keep on pursuing science subjects when their passion and interest actually exist in other fields for the following reasons.
First and foremost, the lack of interest or enthusiasm for a subject denies the possibility to carry on learning it or attaining any academic achievement. Because one’s interest and passion for a subject is his fundamental drive and best mentor on the academic or career path. Without true passion for science, one won’t be thoroughly or constantly devoted to learning it and will eventually give up the challenging pursuit. Tu Yoyo, the Nobel Laureate in Medicine, devoted her entire life to biomedical research not for material rewards but for her enduring enthusiasm for the research itself.
Another reason for my argument is that many students are not suitable candidates for learning science subjects. Scientific research is full of challenges and asks for time, money and intelligence. In most countries, doing degrees in medicine and becoming a well-trained doctor usually take more than five years. And it takes several years and a huge investment to obtain any solid achievement in most science subjects. Besides, factors like financial background, academic qualification, and even intellectual capacity may also affect a student’s decision on whether to pursue a degree or career in science or not.
It is undeniable that choosing subjects like literature and arts that you are interested in also has certain limitation——there are not enough job opportunities in the following days. As far as the current job market is concerned, these subjects may not guarantee a bright employment prospect. However, with the progress of culture and people’s pursuit of cultural life, it is firmly believed that these disciplines will be valued as much as science subjects in the future.
To put it in a nutshell, it is irrational to encourage students to pursue science subjects when they are actually more interested and capable in other fields. Passion and devotion to a subject are the indispensable motivation for one’s career life. Meanwhile, job opportunities are not only decided by a science degree alone but also by a variety of individual and external factors.
